SenseUs seeks to understand the hearts and minds of voters

While traditional political polls focus largely on capturing rational data, SenseUs delves into the emotions of voters, a critical influencer of decisions.

Utilizing ADSAM®, a proprietary measure of emotional response used worldwide in research, United States citizens intending to vote in the 2008 election were surveyed to identify the “hot” candidates and campaign issues. The sample was representative of Democrats, Republicans and Independents as well as all key demographics (age, race, region, sex, income).

Candidates included in this study:

Sam Brownback, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, John McCain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Tom Tancredo, Bill Richardson, Barack Obama, Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel, John Edwards, Chris Doss, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.

Campaign Issues covered in this study:

War in Iraq, Healthcare, War on Terrorism, the Economy & Immigration.

Brief Results

“The Contenders” versus “The Other Guys.” For each party, there are only three candidates making above average emotional connections with voters.

A critical finding: Giuliani may have the ability to infuse energy into a party. His Emotional Temperature is above his party’s.

The candidate that leads with Democrats emotionally is Hillary Clinton.

Barack Obama leads Emotionally with the Independents. This propels him above Hillary Clinton on the Emotional Temperature™ for all voters.

Of the handful of reasons why Democrats indicated they feel Interested/Excited about Clinton, some have nothing to do with her persona, experience or achievements. Many respondents on the Emotional Profile® indicated that they like that she is a woman.
